Continued from episode 2.

Bobby continued his story, “The man in the picture was my wife’s boss, he had just died a month ago leaving behind no wife or children to continue his Legacy, the man sitting in front of me was his younger brother, they had been reliably informed that my wife was expecting a male child and had come to lay claims to him, my wife had tried to pacify him by sending him huge sums of money, hence the sms alerts I saw on his phone but he had accepted the money and gone behind her back to meet with me. Desperate to find out if his claims were true, I decided to see a doctor for a fertility test, he carried out some investigations and told me I had Azoospermia.

He said it is a condition in which there is complete absence of sperm in the ejaculate and it can be divided into two based on the causes, obstructive Azoospermia (which means there is a blockage causing sperm produced in the testes not to be released) and non-obstructive Azoospermia (which means there is a problem with sperm production). Non-obstructive azoospermia can be caused by hormonal problems, genetic abnormalities, exposure to harmful radiation, trauma to the testes or infections affecting it, undescended testes (a condition in which the testis fails to descend into its usual place in the scrotum),and use of steroids for body building.

Obstructive Azoospermia can be caused by trauma or infections to the reproductive system (including sexually transmitted infections), genetic abnormalities. I cannot remember all the causes the doctor mentioned but there were definitely many more. He made me understand that there was no way I could have fathered any kids on my own with this problem. Although he said that all hope may not be lost for men in my situation because after undergoing screening tests, the cause may sometimes be found to be treatable or reversible, or in some cases assisted reproductive technologies may be helpful but all these should only be done by specialists.” Bobby said heaving a sigh as he finished narrating his ordeal.

“Wow Mr Bobby, your story is very touching I must say” the police man stated. Chris sat there transfixed, he was still too shocked to respond to what he had just heard, “so how did you kill your wife?” The second policeman asked. “Like I said before, I didn’t mean to kill her” Bobby replied crying, ” I was angry and hurt, so I boarded the next available bus back to Lagos after the meeting with her boss’s younger brother, my intention was just to confront her, which I did immediately I set my eyes on her ,but she kept denying it, so I ran to the kitchen and brought out a knife to threaten her, I wasn’t going to use it on her , I just wanted to scare her into saying the truth but she denied it even further and that got me really mad. I looked at her , heavily pregnant with another man’s child.

I can’t really explain what came over me, I think it was a mixture of rage, hurt and betrayal, before I knew it my hands were stabbing at her stomach with the knife, in a split second my hands were covered in blood. With her last breath, she whispered to me that she was sorry and gave up the ghost, it was then I realised what I had done.” He said wiping the tears from his eyes.”Like my colleague earlier said, your story is really touching, many men in your shoes would have done the same or even worse. Unfortunately your case is still going to have to be tried in court.” The second police man replied. “I’m telling you it wasn’t intentional ” Bobby cried, “the court will decide that” the policemen said putting him in handcuffs and taking him away
