Which one of these 4 dramatic personality disorder types are you?

Dr. Anderson

Welcome to the sequel to the 3 interesting personality disorders you never knew existed  earlier article, which is also a prequel to the concluding article. I sincerely hope to illuminate your minds so that it will become literally impossible to get angry at some of your acquaintances because you will understand that their screws are not as tight as yours…that’s if you have any screws. Lol
Cluster B is the dramatic/emotional Cluster.
There are four (4) personality disorders, which we will be examining in this cluster.

1. Antisocial personality disorder
Individuals with antisocial personality disorder display a pervasive pattern of disregard for and violation of the rights of others and the rules of society. Although the formal diagnosis of antisocial personality disorder is made only after one is aged at least 18 years (when he should have common sense), the following features must start to be exhibited by age 15 years or earlier:
-Repeated violations of the law
-Pervasive lying and deception
-Physical aggressiveness
-Reckless disregard for safety of self or others
-Consistent irresponsibility in work and family environments
-Lack of remorse
Sounds like that guy you were 200% sure was an armed robber? well the two conditions aren’t mutually exclusive. These individuals (almost exclusively males) often tend to turn to a life of crime effortlessly. Sad but true.

2. Borderline personality disorder
The central feature of borderline personality disorder is a pervasive pattern of unstable and intense interpersonal relationships, self-perception, and moods. Impulse control is markedly impaired. Transiently, such patients may appear psychotic because of the intensity of their distortions. Diagnostic criteria require at least 5 of the following features:
-Frantic efforts to avoid expected abandonment
-Unstable and intense interpersonal relationships
-Markedly and persistently unstable self-image
-Impulsivity in at least 2 areas that are potentially self-damaging – eg, sex, substance abuse, and reckless driving
-Recurrent suicidal behaviors or threats or self-mutilation
-Instability of their moods
-Chronic feelings of emptiness
-Inappropriate and intense anger
-Transient paranoia or dissociation

Borderline personality disorder is, however, one of the most commonly overused diagnoses in DSM-5.
If this sounds like your girlfriend, there is hope for you yet, at least now that you’re informed, you can make an informed decision. There’s light at the end of the tunnel. It could be the brilliance of heaven, the fires of hell or an oncoming train. What the heck. Light is light.

3.Histrionic personality disorder
Major traits of this condition include the following:
-Need to be the center of attention with self-dramatization
-Inappropriate sexual seductiveness
-Speech lacks detail (this is my main bone of contention)
-Wealth accumulating, but insincere, relationships
-High level of Suggestibility (can easily be led astray)
Those Air headed babes in your school and work place that like using big words just so they can sound “photosynthesis”… That’s them right here. I’m sure you never thought they needed medical help from anyone other than a Gynaecologist, well it turns out they need a psychiatrist even more.

4. Narcissistic personality disorder
Narcissistic individuals think very very highly of themselves and require admiration from others. Particular features of the disorder include the following:
-Exaggeration of their own talents or accomplishments
-Preoccupation with fantasies of success, beauty, and love
-Sense of entitlement
-Exploitation of others
-Lack of empathy
-Envy of others
-An arrogant, haughty attitude
They’re the ones you can’t stand in a group project because they just suck up all the air in the room to keep their ego airborne. Looking back I’m sure we all had one or two classmates (your primary 5 class captain) and teachers, who has this unique “issue”. So irritating. Thank God guns weren’t legal then… Or else you would be reading this from the comfort of a small room with bars.

The last Cluster is a really special one. You won’t believe the kind of people there. We don’t intend to break the camel’s back with it but, these things happen. Till then, au revoir.
