Old enough yet unmarried 7: Love, betrayal and health

Dr. O.

……continued from episode 6.

I hastened my steps to catch up with her and the others, I didn’t mention what had just happened to them, I decided to keep it to myself.

We finally reached the part of the beach were the cocktail dinner was taking place, I spotted different smartly dressed waiters carrying trays of different kinds of food around, there were only very few seats available because guests were expected to move round to mingle, this was definitely my type of party, there was also a live band up on the stage playing Ghanaian highlife music. I was particularly thrilled to see different kinds of food, Continental dishes, African dishes, Chinese and Japanese dishes, I spotted another one of the waiters passing by with a tray and decided to help myself to a plate of Kelewele, one of my favourite Ghanaian snacks made with plantain seasoned with spices and served alongside peppered sauce, mmmm…yummy, I didn’t realise how much I’d missed it till I put a sizzling hot piece in my mouth, I was still basking in the yummy taste of Kelewele on my taste buds when my thoughts were interrupted by a pot-bellied old man trying to chat me up, he looked like he was almost approaching 60, now I know I’m old but a 60 year old man trying to chat me up is just plain ridiculous, I had to admit I was a bit pissed off, If you spent 2 hours doing your makeup and getting ready and some old man was chatting you up when there were so many other fine young men around I’m sure you’d be pissed too. I told him to pick on someone his own age and I left him standing there in shock watching me hurriedly walk away.

I looked around the room wondering where the others were then I noticed Oby and Charly standing at a food stand not too far away staring at me with mischievous grins on their faces, “you both look like you’re up to no good” I said looking at them suspiciously when I walked up to them, “we should be telling you that” Charly replied, “what were you doing with Mr. Frimpong?”, “Mr. Frimpong?” I asked looking confused, “we saw you chatting with him just now ” Oby added, “Oh that old man?” I asked rolling my eyes, ” Old man abi? Babe, I never knew you were this selfish, so you knew Mr. Frimpong and you made us waste our money on paying for hotel rooms” Oby said, “ok now I’m lost, who is Mr. Frimpong?” I asked, “Are you pretending not to know Mr. Frimpong the owner of this hotel?” Charly asked, “wow” I exclaimed with eyes wide open, “I just told him off”, “you did what?” She asked, “are you trying to get us kicked out of our rooms?”

” don’t mind her, instead of using her charms to get us a refund, she was busy forming fine girl, you don’t know you’re old abi? better go back and apologise if you still want to hang out with us tonight” Oby joked.
I was just about to give her a sarcastic reply when Yemi popped up behind us holding a plate stacked with all kinds of food, she didn’t even care if they tasted good together she just put it there, I’m talking silly combinations like Chinese rice and pancake, who does that? I guess we don’t call her the food dustbin for nothing.

“Where have you been?” I asked turning to face her, “with le boo of course” she replied, “trying all sorts of food”, “I see” I replied looking round for Bayo, “and where is le boo?” I asked, “taking a stroll on the beach” she replied, “he said he needed some alone time with nature” she added chuckling, “he’s such a weirdo” I replied rolling my eyes as the low battery warning beeped again on my phone, “I need to get my power bank guys, I’ll be right back” I said stepping back and making my way back towards the hotel lobby.

I could almost swear I heard noises coming from Yemi and Bayo’s room when I reached the corridor in front of our room but Bayo and Yemi were mean’t to be on the beach so it didn’t make sense that the noise was coming from there, I brushed the thought off my mind and went into the room to look for my power bank, the room was upside down thanks to those two grown up kids I call my friends, the thought of looking for anything there was a nightmare.

As I began my search, I started to hear moaning sounds from the next room, I paused to listen carefully, the sounds grew louder and once again they seemed to be coming from the room next to us, the lady in question must’ve been having some serious orgasm because believe me she was screaming like the world was coming to an end, surprisingly no one had gone to shut her up, I guess most of the guests were probably at the cocktail party, the moaning and screaming suddenly became muffled like someone was covering her mouth, I began to feel uneasy because by now I was sure the sounds were definitely from Bayo’s room but I didn’t want to believe it.

After I found what I was looking for, I decided to wait to confirm my suspicions, few minutes later, I heard the door open, I waited till I heard their footsteps go down the corridor away from the room then I quietly peeped, I was right, it was Bayo and if I wasn’t mistaken the girl he was with was one of the girls that had welcomed us with Ghanaian chocolates when we arrived. Gosh! I was foolish to think he had changed his ways, he’s always been an unapologetic womaniser, this would be the third time he would be caught cheating in 3 months, the last experience was so humiliating for Yemi that she was going to break up with him but he begged her like his life depended on it and promised to change.

I know for a fact that she is already head over heels in love with him, how do I look her in the face to tell her I just caught him cheating again barely 2weeks after.
